Violent attacks targeting cryptocurrency holders are on pace for their worst year on record, with over $30 million stolen during the first half of 2026, according to a Chainalysis report. The firm documented 46 violent crypto attacks between early January and late June 2026. Home invasions now account for 37% of documented incidents, up from 26% in 2023. Attackers use varying laundering techniques, from simple transfers to centralized exchanges to sophisticated methods involving decentralized exchanges, cross-chain bridges, and MEV bots.
