Vijay Khanna, Director of Engineering at Ripple, called on XRP Ledger node operators to urgently update their systems to version 3.2.1. A manifest flood attack was observed on the network on Friday, July 31. This version contains a fix that adds four limits: a size cap per manifest, a receive cap for incoming batches, a send cap for bulk manifest greetings, and a cache cap of 100 unknown keys. Manifests from unlisted keys are no longer persisted to disk, preventing an attack from surviving a restart.
