Barcelona will cover the majority of the goalkeeper’s wages, estimated at around 12 million euros annually, while Ajax gets an elite keeper without bearing the full financial burden. This operation allows the Spanish club to technically reduce its active squad payroll and comply with La Liga’s strict financial fair play rules. Tax issues that had delayed the agreement were resolved shortly before Ter Stegen’s departure to the Netherlands.
