Kentucky Industrial Alliance has sued Cave City over a 12-month moratorium on data center construction. The developer plans to build the Cave Point Commerce Center, a $4.8 billion hyperscale AI and cloud computing complex on roughly 600 acres. The city enacted the freeze shortly after the developer submitted its plans, claiming over $2 million already invested and projecting 360 jobs. The proposed site lies 5-10 miles from Mammoth Cave National Park, where the karst landscape raises concerns about groundwater contamination. Two lawsuits have been filed: one challenging the moratorium’s validity, the other contesting the 2024 annexation that gave the city jurisdiction over the land.
