Trump promised to save crypto, but his personal business might kill its landmark CLARITY law

Senate Democratic negotiators are conditioning their support for the CLARITY Act on stronger ethics language limiting senior officials’ profits from digital assets, including President Trump and affiliated businesses. The House passed the bill 294 to 134 in July 2025, but the Senate must still resolve conflicts of interest involving Trump and ventures like World Liberty Financial. Galaxy cut its passage estimate from 75 percent in May to around 50 percent in June due to Senate scheduling and ethics disputes. Senator Elizabeth Warren specifically flagged investment exceptions, affiliated-company structures, and DOJ-only enforcement as loopholes that must be closed before Democrats will vote yes.
