S&P 500 futures steady as chip stocks take a tumble

Semiconductor stocks are experiencing a significant retreat, with declines ranging from 2% to over 12% for key players. Intel and Micron were among the hardest hit, while SanDisk plummeted by 12.6%, erasing approximately $1 trillion in market value despite TSMC’s 77% year-over-year profit increase. On July 16, the S&P 500 fell 0.51%, the Nasdaq dropped 1.47%, and the Dow inched down 0.20%. Investors are awaiting the Fed’s July 28-29 meeting, with a 25-basis-point rate hike nearly priced in, along with quarterly earnings from Microsoft, Meta, Amazon, and Apple.
