The ENS DAO is voting to install a new Security Council that will hold the emergency veto power protecting the naming protocol, after co-founder Nick Johnson blocked the previous council’s renewal in June. Nick Johnson, who controls approximately 3.26 million ENS tokens, or about half of all ENS delegated, filed the executable proposal himself. The new Security Council will operate as a 5-of-8 multisig with an expiry set for July 16, 2028. As of Monday, the measure had 712,320 ENS votes in favor and zero against, but had not yet reached the 1 million token quorum required for passage. Ethereum Name Service, with a market capitalization near $172 million, saw its token rise 3.2% over the past 24 hours.
