500-Million New Reality for Bitcoin: Ownership Hits 4.5%-6% of Global Population

The global cryptocurrency market has reached a new milestone: the number of Bitcoin holders has officially exceeded 500 million people, representing between 4.5% and 6% of the global population, according to on-chain analyst Willy Woo. Data from Glassnode and Chainalysis place the total audience of the asset between 370 and 500 million people. The global distribution remains uneven: India leads in volume with 68 million users, while the United States shows the highest penetration rate among major economies at 14% of its population. Countries like Vietnam (17%), the Philippines (14%), Argentina (15%) and Turkey (14%) record particularly high adoption rates, with populations using Bitcoin as a hedging tool against inflation and currency controls. Regarding price, the diminishing returns hypothesis dominates: after 48x and 16x rallies in previous cycles, the current cycle shows potential limited to approximately 1.8x, with an estimated peak around $123,000.
