Symbiosis suffered an attack on its Bitcoin bridge on September 11, during which 46.1 billion syBTC were created without real backing via the BridgeV2 contract on BNB Chain. However, the attacker only managed to sell 4.39 WBTC for $336,000 on Uniswap v4. The protocol announced the recovery of approximately 15 BTC, worth $1.15 million, held in a multisig wallet. Symbiosis’s Bitcoin bridge remains suspended, with bitcoin swaps now routed through Chainflip and THORChain. The final amount of losses and compensation terms for liquidity providers remain to be determined.
