SecondFi, a Cardano wallet developer, has outlined a three-step recovery plan following a June hack where 16.1 million ADA (approximately $2.5 million) was stolen from 374 wallets. The project, which is permanently shutting down regular operations, managed to save 129 million ADA by transferring funds to custodial storage. The first step, already available, allows affected users to submit claims through a simplified ticket system. The final step, expected in early September, will introduce a zero-knowledge-proof-based refund portal enabling users to prove wallet ownership without revealing seed phrases or private keys. The initiative, developed in collaboration with Input Output Group and the Cardano Foundation, represents the first Web3 compensation tool based on zero-knowledge proofs.
