World Liberty co-founder disputes Justin Sun’s court victory claim

Justin Sun, founder of the Tron blockchain, claimed victory after a California federal court hearing on August 20, asserting his individual claims would remain in open court rather than being sent to private arbitration. However, World Liberty Financial co-founder Zach Witkoff contested this interpretation, stating the judge made no definitive rulings and instead suggested Sun’s corporate entities’ claims should proceed to arbitration. Sun had invested approximately $45 million in WLFI tokens after the project’s 2024 launch, and alleges the company added blacklist functions to smart contracts to freeze his holdings when he declined additional investments. World Liberty Financial filed a defamation countersuit in California in May, characterizing Sun’s public statements as an extortion attempt. The frozen tokens were valued at up to $1 billion at their peak, with the court ordering both parties to determine which claims require arbitration.
