World Labs acquires SceniX to build digital training grounds for robots, sidestepping real-world data costs

World Labs, the spatial intelligence startup co-founded by AI pioneer Fei-Fei Li, acquired SceniX on July 21 to develop digital training environments for robots. The deal integrates SceniX’s high-fidelity simulation expertise into World Labs’ Marble platform, which generates photorealistic 3D environments from text and image inputs. The company raised $230 million in 2024, pushing its valuation past $1 billion in its founding year, before securing a $200 million strategic investment from Autodesk in February 2026, bringing total known funding to at least $430 million. This real-to-sim-to-real training approach allows robots to learn in digitized environments before being deployed in physical space, avoiding the high costs of real-world data collection.
