White House warns CLARITY Act will die Sept 15 unless 7 Democrats vote yes

The White House is pressuring Senate Democrats ahead of the September 15 vote on the CLARITY Act, arguing that lawmakers have already had ample time to reach a deal on crypto market structure. Patrick Witt, executive director of the Presidential Council of Advisors for Digital Assets, accuses Democrats of blocking the procedural vote before the August recess. Republicans, who hold 53 of 100 seats, need at least seven Democratic votes to reach the required 60 votes and begin formal consideration of the bill. Senator Bernie Moreno said eleven months of negotiations were over and that nothing remained to resolve. Without these Democratic votes, the CLARITY Act would not be formally dead, but it would significantly weaken the chances of passing market structure legislation this year.
