Warren probes Pentagon program to hire highly paid private sector workers

Senator Elizabeth Warren sent a letter to the Pentagon expressing concerns about the BOND program launched in February, which recruits private sector professionals to improve acquisition and capital allocation processes. She warns of significant conflict of interest and revolving door risks, particularly after reports revealed salaries exceeding $400,000 and promises of access to high-level government officials. The Pentagon requested $88 million for the BOND program, $189 million for the Economic Defense Unit, and $20.2 billion for recruiting Wall Street investors. The Massachusetts senator posed nearly 35 questions about the oversight mechanisms and participants’ affiliations, including executives from Palantir, Meta and OpenAI.
