A study by the National Bureau of Economic Research conducted by researchers from Harvard, Duke, and Wharton analyzed 120,306 Ivy League graduates between 1950 and 2020 to measure the impact of college sports on hiring. Having a former teammate at a firm nearly triples (193.7%) the odds of being hired there, compared to only 4.6% for simply sharing the same university. Athletes represent only 5% of the graduates in the sample but hold 7.08% of first jobs in finance. Morgan Stanley and Bank of America are the most athlete-heavy employers, while Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase lead overall Ivy League hiring.
