Wall Street has invested approximately $7 billion in tokenized funds, but less than 1% of that amount is actually being used in decentralized finance (DeFi). The volume of real-world assets deployed in DeFi protocols has reached a new record of $3.97 billion, despite 99 hacks recorded in the second quarter of 2026, a historical high. Only 11.7% of total tokenized real-world asset value is currently active in DeFi, where these assets serve as collateral, liquidity, or yield sources. The three largest tokenized funds (BlackRock BUIDL, Circle USYC, and Franklin iBENJI) total $7.23 billion in assets but only $49.7 million in DeFi, while private credit products like Maple’s syrupUSDC show utilization rates exceeding 90%. Citi’s forecast projects growth in the tokenized assets market from $17 billion today to $5.5 trillion by 2030.
