Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, has rejected angel investor Liron Shapira’s prediction that artificial intelligence could crater Bitcoin’s price by more than 50% within two years. Buterin called the probability of AI fundamentally compromising Bitcoin’s core SHA-256 security « extremely low » and revealed he has approximately 90% of his personal net worth riding on that conviction. Shapira had stated with 50% confidence that AI advancements could discover cryptographic weaknesses in the Bitcoin network, while Buterin views AI as an opportunity to enhance blockchain security through AI-assisted formal verification.
