Payments giant Visa has announced the acquisition of BioCatch, a behavioral biometrics company, for between $2B and $2.4B in cash. In 2025, BioCatch’s platform analyzed $17.2T in transactions and helped prevent $4B in fraudulent activity. More than 350 banks globally use its solutions, protecting over 1.7 billion devices. This deal aims to strengthen Visa’s security infrastructure against competition from Mastercard, PayPal, and fintech challengers, as real-time payment systems expand globally. The acquisition remains subject to regulatory approval.
