US Strategic Petroleum Reserve won’t be tapped to ease fuel prices, and Bitcoin miners are feeling the heat

The US Strategic Petroleum Reserve has reached its lowest level since March 1983, with approximately 308 million barrels. The American government has decided not to tap this reserve to address rising fuel prices linked to the Hormuz Strait crisis. A total of 352 million barrels has been withdrawn over the past four years, including 172 million ordered by President Trump in March 2026. Bitcoin production costs have risen to approximately $88,000 per BTC, putting significant pressure on miners. Without SPR releases acting as a relief valve, prices will be more directly determined by actual supply and demand fundamentals.
