As of July 28, U.S. military forces have reported deploying over 20 ships in the Gulf to support military operations enforcing a blockade against Iran. The U.S. military has redirected 18 commercial vessels, disabled 2, and boarded 2 others to ensure compliance with the blockade. These operations are centered around the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian ports, and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait region. Analysts warn that these maritime operations could disrupt shipping routes in strategic waterways and affect insurer behavior regarding transit coverage.
