Umbra Privacy treasury survives $1.5M governance attack as MetaDAO’s futarchy model proves its worth

An attacker attempted to steal $1.5 million from Umbra Privacy’s treasury through a governance proposal on MetaDAO. Thanks to MetaDAO’s futarchy model, which uses decision markets instead of traditional voting, the market rejected the malicious proposal with an estimated 28% passage probability. The minimum stake threshold required to submit a proposal was met for the first time since the platform’s launch. Umbra Privacy operates as a privacy layer on Solana, offering zero-fee transaction shielding. This incident comes weeks after BonkDAO suffered a $20 million drain through the same type of governance exploit in July 2026.
