Volodymyr Zelensky visited the US Capitol on July 28 to meet with all 100 senators and rally support for the Sanctioning Russia Act (S.1241). This bipartisan bill proposes tariffs as high as 500% on countries importing Russian energy and already has over 84 co-sponsors. The legislation extends existing financial restrictions against Russia and aims to choke off revenue streams funding the war in Ukraine. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s National Bank has banned crypto services for Russian users to prevent sanctions evasion through stablecoins and peer-to-peer exchanges.
