A Ukrainian drone strike hit the Kirishi oil refinery in Russia’s Leningrad Oblast on the night of August 29-30. Operated by Surgutneftegaz, the facility processes between 17.5 and 18 million tons of crude oil per year, representing 6-7% of Russia’s refining capacity. This marks the third attack on the facility in 2026, following strikes in March and May that caused significant damage and temporary production shutdowns. The regional governor claimed 42 drones were intercepted, but Ukrainian sources reported direct hits resulting in visible damage and fire. No casualties were reported.
