Two sentenced in France after crypto ransom home invasion

Two individuals were sentenced on Monday by the Amiens criminal court for their involvement in a series of break-ins targeting a property in the Somme region of France. The perpetrators believed that the previous owners, a retired couple who made their fortune in crypto, had left financial information leaked on the dark web. During the second attack on June 26, the robbers tied up one victim and beat the other before fleeing. The first defendant received a three-year prison sentence while the second was sentenced to 18 months, part of which is suspended. The current owners, a farmer and a bank executive in their twenties, stated they no longer feel safe and wish to sell the property.
