Trump’s tariff overhaul creates winners and losers: Europe benefits while Brazil gets hammered

The Trump administration has imposed a 25% tariff on a wide range of Brazilian products, effective July 22, 2026, making Brazil one of America’s least favored trade partners outside of China. Meanwhile, the European Union has secured effective rates of just 10% to 15% through negotiations. Brazil, the world’s largest coffee exporter and a major beef supplier, has seen its tariff situation deteriorate from a 10% baseline to rates as high as 50% on certain goods. Cryptocurrency markets remained largely unmoved by this announcement, with the previous correlation between tariff news and digital asset market instability appearing to weaken for announcements not targeting China or the EU.
