U.S. President Donald Trump’s cryptocurrency holdings, estimated at $1.456 billion with $88 million in gains, are raising ethical concerns regarding his role in shaping crypto policy. Senators from both parties have proposed an ethics clause that would require Trump to sell his digital assets to prevent conflicts of interest. A tax deferral provision would be included in this clause to allow him to postpone capital gains tax payments rather than paying them all at once. The CLARITY Act, which aims to provide regulatory clarity for the crypto sector, is not an immediate legislative priority according to the current Senate schedule.
