U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to bomb Oman over its negotiations with Iran to manage ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, two regional officials said. The Trump administration opposes the yet-to-be-announced Iranian-Omani deal, including joint management of the passage critical to global supplies of oil and natural gas. Iran reiterated the strait will remain closed until Washington lifts sanctions, releases frozen assets and ends military threats. Multiple attacks were reported despite Trump’s claims the strait is open, including a ship hit by a projectile, a cargo vessel declared a constructive total loss off Yemen and two ballistic missiles fired by Iran toward the UAE. The 60-day negotiating period between the U.S. and Iran ended Monday without a deal.
