Trump says Iran requested nuclear and Hormuz talks, backed by Gulf states

Donald Trump announced on August 2 that Iran had formally requested talks with the United States, focusing on its nuclear program and the status of the Strait of Hormuz. Gulf allies, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar, reportedly encouraged these negotiations and helped postpone an imminent US military strike against Iran. The following day, Iran’s Foreign Ministry denied that any talks with Washington were scheduled, stating that Iran would only negotiate through Oman as a mediator. Oil prices rose by 2.4% following Iran’s denial, while Bitcoin remained stable around $63,000.
