Trump backs stronger rules in Clarity Act, boosting passage prospects

Senator Cynthia Lummis announced that former President Donald Trump supports stronger rules and transparency measures in the Clarity Act. This legislation, formally known as the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, aims to establish a comprehensive regulatory framework for digital assets in the United States, dividing oversight between the SEC and the CFTC. The bill, which passed the House in July 2025 and cleared the Senate Banking Committee in May 2026, is currently in late-stage Senate negotiations. Trump’s support significantly increases the likelihood of the bill’s passage.
