There’s a New Way to Protect Bitcoin From Future Quantum Attacks, Researchers Say

Researchers at AmericanFortress have proposed ZKPoSP, a post-quantum signature scheme that could allow hierarchical deterministic wallets to withstand future quantum attacks without requiring fund migration. The system replaces elliptic curve signatures with zero-knowledge proofs while preserving existing wallet addresses, with proof generation times of approximately 12 to 13 seconds and verification times of approximately 9 to 10 milliseconds. According to the study, approximately 6.04 million Bitcoin, roughly 30% of the circulating supply, already have publicly exposed keys, making them vulnerable. The Bitcoin Security Consortium, which includes major companies such as BlackRock, Coinbase, and Strategy, has committed 15 million dollars over three years to support research on Bitcoin security against quantum attacks.
