Brokerages, startups and even retail investors are building AI agents that can oversee portfolios and automate investing tasks once handled by humans. Devin Ryan at Citizens believes these agents will eventually manage taxes, cash balances, borrowing, mortgages and investment portfolios, all tailored to an investor’s financial goals. He estimates agentic finance could increase transaction volumes by at least tenfold. Robinhood introduced tools in May allowing third-party AI agents to connect with customer accounts, while platform Public is developing its own AI agents. Many firms emphasize keeping humans in charge of final investment decisions, with users reviewing and approving an agent’s workflow before execution.
