Tether has increased its gold reserves to 146 tonnes, valued at approximately $18.8 billion, positioning itself at the level of mid-sized central banks. The USDT issuer added 14 tonnes in the second quarter, representing an increase of about 11 percent compared to the previous quarter. Gold now accounts for nearly 10 percent of the company’s total reserves of $187.8 billion. This accumulation is funded by profits generated from high interest rates, with $1.5 billion in net operating profits in the second quarter and a reserve surplus of $4.11 billion. Reserves have more than doubled since the first quarter of 2025.
