Tether-backed crypto platform Orionx is shutting down after an audit revealed a $7 million custody shortfall. Founded in Chile in 2017, Orionx provided crypto payment and financial services in Chile, Peru, Colombia and Mexico. Tether invested in Orionx in June 2025, exclusively leading its Series A funding round. The co-founders Roberto Zibert and Díaz denied the allegations, saying they never acted against customers’ interests and that the cause of the shortfall remains unclear. Tether and Orionx had not responded to Cointelegraph’s requests for comment by publication.
