Tesla has signed a power purchase agreement with Stellar Renewable Power, a KKR-backed renewable energy developer, to buy electricity from a 1 GW solar farm paired with a 1 GW/4 GWh battery storage system in Navajo County, Arizona. This project makes it one of the largest planned solar-plus-storage installations in the state. Stellar received a Special Use Permit from Navajo County in December 2024, clearing the regulatory hurdle to move forward. Financial terms and contract duration have not been disclosed. Tesla already operates Virtual Power Plant programs in Arizona aggregating customer Powerwalls, and has deployed Megapack systems at various solar sites in the state.
