Hawkins County in Tennessee unanimously voted 12-0 to ban crypto mining facilities and data centers in unincorporated areas. This measure follows a previous ban in September 2025 related to a lawsuit with the ExoticRidge mining company. A settlement was proposed in January with noise restrictions of 80 decibels, but the county chose to maintain its ban. Additionally, Tennessee banned cryptocurrency ATMs and kiosks on July 1 in response to fraud cases targeting senior citizens.
