SpaceX insiders sell stock as lockup period expires, unleashing 912 million shares onto the market

SpaceX’s post-IPO lockup period expired on August 6, 2026, unlocking approximately 912 million shares for employees and early investors to sell on the open market. This amount more than doubles the company’s existing public float, with an additional 12.9 billion shares potentially hitting the market by mid-2027. The stock has declined 49% from its June peak, falling from $135 at the IPO to a range of $111 to $112. SpaceX reported Q2 2026 revenue of $7.8 billion, up 92% year-over-year, but posted a net loss of $541 million, including a $195 million impairment charge on its Bitcoin holdings. The company still holds 18,712 BTC valued at approximately $1.1 billion and made no Bitcoin sales during the quarter.
