Solana passed proposal SGP-0002, doubling its disinflation rate from 15% to 30%, preventing roughly 18.9 million SOL from ever being minted. The vote passed with 67% support, representing 176.29 million SOL in favor, 66.19 million against, and 20.63 million abstaining, with participation from 60.7% of staked SOL. Kraken’s validator played a decisive role by moving 8.1 million SOL in favor of the proposal in the final stretch. Under the new rate, Solana is projected to reach its 1.5% terminal inflation floor by the first half of 2029, nearly three years earlier than originally planned. The fee restructuring proposal (SGP-0003) failed with only 54% support, falling short of the required two-thirds supermajority.
