Solana is preparing to launch Transaction v1 on its testnet in late August 2026. This upgrade increases the maximum transaction size from 1,232 to 4,096 bytes, a 3.3x boost. It will enable zero-knowledge proofs and complex multisig operations to be executed atomically in a single transaction, eliminating the need for workarounds previously used by developers. Legacy transactions and the current v0 format will continue to work without modification. The improvements will eventually deploy to mainnet as part of the Agave 4.2 client release cycle.
