Simile raises $100M Series A to build AI digital twins of human society

Simile, a startup spun out of Stanford University, has closed a $100 million Series A funding round led by Index Ventures, with participation from Bain Capital Ventures, Hanabi Capital, and notable investors including Andrej Karpathy and Fei-Fei Li. The company is building foundation models capable of creating digital replicas of real humans, simulating their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to predict emotional reactions, consumer preferences, and social dynamics. Applications span consumer analytics, marketing, financial forecasting, and public policy planning. The company’s valuation has not been disclosed. For the crypto sector, this funding round illustrates how well-funded centralized competitors like Simile could validate or make redundant decentralized AI protocols focused on data marketplaces and behavioral modeling.
