Two US lawmakers have introduced the « AI Kill Switch Act, » a bipartisan bill that would require the largest artificial intelligence developers to maintain the technical ability to throttle, suspend, or shut down their most powerful systems. Congressman Ted Lieu and Congressman Nathaniel Moran authored the measure. The legislation also grants federal officials emergency authority to order actions when necessary.
