Three progressive organizations, Indivisible, Demand Progress, and the Revolving Door Project, sent a letter to every Democratic Senate office criticizing Senator Kirsten Gillibrand over her son’s ties to the crypto industry. This mobilization complicates her efforts to broker a compromise on the ethics provisions of the CLARITY Act, which requires 60 Senate votes to pass. The super PAC Fairshake, the crypto industry’s leading political action committee, holds approximately $125 million in available funds for the 2026 midterm elections, significantly raising the political stakes. Gillibrand, as chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, sits at the center of the negotiations while the Senate is expected to consider the legislation before the August recess.
