Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso urged his colleagues on Thursday to pass the Crypto Clarity Act before the five-week recess begins. The bill, which would establish digital asset regulation in the U.S., was passed by the House of Representatives last year but has since been expanded with ethics provisions banning government officials and their families from issuing or promoting crypto. Democrats criticized the bill in a July letter, and the banking lobby has raised concerns over stablecoin yields offered by crypto companies. Senator Thom Tillis said he has not yet heard back from the White House on the latest amendments despite optimism this week. However, Senators Tim Scott and Cynthia Lummis expressed confidence that a vote would happen before the break.
