The US Senate has delayed until September 2026 the vote on the CLARITY Act, the major digital asset regulation bill. The House of Representatives had already passed this legislation in July 2025 by a 294 to 134 margin. The bill needs 60 votes in the Senate, a difficult threshold to reach within roughly three weeks before midterm elections. The main sticking points concern ethics provisions related to political figures’ crypto activities and regulatory definitions covering stablecoins. If the cloture vote fails, the CLARITY Act will be effectively dead for this Congress.
