SEC Chair Paul Atkins Sets September 15 Senate Vote for CLARITY Act

SEC Chair Paul Atkins said he expects the Senate to vote on the CLARITY Act on September 15, hoping the bill will pass and reach the President’s desk. The vote, originally scheduled before the August recess, has been delayed. The CLARITY Act would establish a framework for sorting digital assets into securities, commodities, or stablecoins. The bill, passed by the House of Representatives last year, has been stalled this year due to disputes between the banking lobby, platforms like Coinbase, and lawmakers over paying yield to customers, as well as ethics language.
