Samsung’s foldable phone sales surged 30% year-over-year in volume, driven by the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 launched in July. The South Korean company dominates the global foldable market with a 40% share in 2025, followed by Huawei at 30%, according to Counterpoint Research. The new passport-style model accounts for 40% of Samsung’s foldable sales, while the high-end Z Fold Ultra 8 represents another 40% of sales. The foldable category, with prices starting at $1,200, makes up less than 2% of the global smartphone market but is growing at a much faster rate than traditional phones. Apple is preparing to launch its own foldable iPhone, and Samsung is counting on seven years of experience and its innovation lead to maintain its competitive edge.
