Russia’s largest bank Sber plans to accept USDT and Ether as loan collateral alongside Bitcoin as the country implements regulated crypto trading under a law signed by President Vladimir Putin on Aug. 4. Russia’s central bank proposed on Aug. 11 allowing Bitcoin, Ether and USDT on regulated exchanges based on criteria including market capitalization, trading volume and at least five years of price history. Meanwhile, Sber’s CFO Taras Skvortsov said he sees no clear demand for the digital ruble from retail clients, corporate clients or financial institutions.
