British neobank Revolut has obtained conditional approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) for a federal banking license in the United States, a major milestone following its application filed in March. This authorization remains conditional: Revolut must still secure approvals from the Federal Reserve and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) before operating under its own brand. The commercial launch is scheduled for the first half of 2027, initially offering current accounts, savings accounts, credit, and credit cards. Access to stablecoins and cryptocurrencies will be integrated in a second phase. Revolut claims nearly 80 million clients worldwide and is targeting 100 million by mid-2027, with the conquest of the North American market serving as a central pillar of this objective.
