A research team has cracked a 15-bit elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) key using a quantum computer and claimed a 1 BTC prize from Project Eleven’s Q-Day Prize challenge. The result marks the largest publicly verified quantum attack on elliptic curve cryptography to date, though the keyspace involved is far too small to pose any threat to Bitcoin wallets or network security.
