OpenAI is rolling out the Sunspot refresh for the ChatGPT Android beta app. This update introduces two features: a per-chat memory toggle allowing users to enable or disable memory for each conversation, and an option to choose whether specific conversations are saved to chat history. These granular controls address regulatory pressure, particularly in Europe where data protection laws require AI companies to give users meaningful control over their data. The rollout is currently limited to the Android beta channel.
