The Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandeb, critical chokepoints for global oil transportation, are facing significant restrictions that are causing oil shipments to be rerouted and supply to decrease sharply. The Strait of Hormuz, which previously carried about 20% of global seaborne oil, is now nearly at a standstill, representing a major blow to worldwide oil distribution. The Bab al-Mandeb Strait is further complicating routes between the Middle East, Europe, and Asia, adding pressure on global supply chains. These disruptions are fueling concerns about crude oil prices, with markets now pricing in a potential new all-time high by year-end, with implied odds estimated at 14%.
